I've been considering what kind of energy source would be required to create a holographic user-interface that someone could physically affect, but could still be as compact as a vambrace-style device. I hadn't even considered using 3D tech to create the illusion of projection instead of actually projecting the interface, which I feel like I should have now but, like you said, it's kind of a declining fad.<br /><br />Unfortunately, the down side to that is the idea of needing a medium to create the illusion of a projection vs depth (such as 3D glasses). I don't know about you, but I really don't want to wear 3D glasses whenever I want to interact with my Omni-Tool, I feel like it would detract from the convenience... I also don't want to look like one of those guys who puts pictures of himself on social media wearing movie theater 3D glasses.
